Payments
CVN ERP takes card payments through Square, using your own Square account. Payments go straight to you; we never see them.
What Square does
| Where | How |
|---|---|
| The counter | Square Terminal devices paired with your registers. The POS sends the amount to the terminal and waits for the customer to tap |
| Your online store | Square's hosted card form at checkout. Card numbers never reach your server |
| Invoices | A Square payment link the customer pays from the client portal |
| Refunds | A card refund on a terminal payment goes back to that payment |
Setting up Square
- In Settings & Secrets › Integrations & API Keys, enter your Square application ID, location ID and access token.
- In Square's developer dashboard, add a webhook pointing at
https://your-domain/api/square-webhookand paste its signature key into Square Payments & Terminal. The webhook confirms payments, records processing fees and keeps payouts in step. - Add each Square Terminal device in POS settings › Payments, then assign it to a register on the Registers tab.
- Try a small payment before you rely on it.
Use Square's sandbox while you test.
Without a card processor
You do not need one to start. Cash, debit and card tenders can be recorded by hand at the POS, for example when you use a standalone card machine, and online shoppers can choose to pay in store or by e-Transfer.
Stripe
If you also take payments through Stripe elsewhere, add a webhook in Stripe pointing at https://your-domain/api/stripe-webhook and paste its signing secret into the Stripe section of POS settings, with your Stripe keys. Verified Stripe charges and refunds are recorded with their real processing fees, which are booked to your accounts.
Fees in the books
Accounting › Payments lists every payment with its card fee. With the webhooks connected, fees are the real amounts from Square or Stripe; until then they are estimated.
